Lynne Berry: Scientist and Children’s Author

Lynne Berry’s latest book for young children, What Floats in a Boat, will be published in July 2013 by Simon & Schuster.

Lynne’s first publications for children were poems, including many published in Ladybug magazine. In 2005, Henry Holt published her first book, Duck Skates, illustrated by Hiroe Nakata. Since then she has published three more books in this series for children ages three and up: Duck DunksDuck Tents, and Ducking for Apples, all illustrated by Hiroe Nakata. Lynne’s other children’s book, The Curious Demise of a Contrary Cat, illustrated by Luke LaMarca, was published by Simon & Schuster.

Lynne graduated from Wellesley College in 1994 with a degree in biology and from Vanderbilt University in 1997 with a Ph.D. in cell biology, and she continues her work as Deputy Director of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Center for Quantitative Sciences.
