The Ever Changing Landscape

The landscape of Generative AI, the foundational and frontier models and the applications that spring from them, are constantly in flux. The pace with which new models and applications are entering the conversation is difficult to keep up with. Below are a couple of resources that help to stay abreast of current trends and products emerging into the environment on a regular basis.

Teaching Naked
A continuously updated Blog by Jose Bowen, this blog is geared towards higher education, containing templates for workshops, explanations of current models and applications, and much more.
GSV: AI and Education
A substack from Claire Zau. This gives almost weekly updates about what's new in AI in the fields of technology, education, security, and more. Great for finding out what just hit on the scene and how it will effect higher education and other fields
Ithaka S-R Generative AI Product Tracker
The Generative AI Product Tracker lists generative AI products that are either marketed specifically towards postsecondary faculty or students or appear to be actively in use by postsecondary faculty or students for teaching, learning, or research activities. The Tracker is a living document, which is updated regularly as new products enter the market or new information about existing products becomes available.

Applications of ChatGPT

Consensus
Consensus is an LLM research application that will not only find you papers around a topic, but will also give you the general consensus of academic thought around that topic.
Elicit
Elicit is an AI research assistant that helps to go through millions of research papers to find the prominent papers on a subject and summarizes the findings as well. Can serve as a starting point for a research project.
Fermat
An AI assistant that can help to brainstorm an idea, design research questions, and explore different points of view. Of particular interest is the built-in counterargument generator to assist in exploring different points of view. Requires you to create an account to use the service.
Research Rabbit
Just like in Spotify, you can add papers to collections. ResearchRabbit learns what you love and improves its recommendations
Semantic Scholar
A free, AI-powered research tool for scientific literature. Elicit uses this tool in the background to help search through the research literature.
