A PICO question is the core element that is required when conducting evidence-based practice research. PICO is an acronym that helps create a clinical question that provides you a clear idea of the evidence-based information that you are trying to locate.
P - Patient or Problem: How would you describe the patient? What issue are they experiencing?
I - Intervention: What would like to do to help the patient?
C - Comparison: What would be the alternative to the intervention you selected?
O - Outcome: By doing the intervention, what do you hope to accomplish?
