Latest Updates

Update of this page will be discontinued on May 20. Please visit About Memorial Library for updates about access to library services and collections.

  • Phased reopening of Memorial Library begins Tuesday, May 26, 9am. Hours will be Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-12noon.

General Information

Information about phased reopening of Memorial Library

  • Library staff will be wearing masks in public areas and we hope you will, too.
  • Please maintain 6’ social distancing at all times.
  • Poster printing, lamination, and technology lending will be unavailable.
  • All group study spaces will be closed, with classrooms available by appointment to faculty and staff only. Please email library@berry.edu for more information about appointments. Faculty may use their assigned carrels on the 2nd floor but will be expected to take care of their own cleaning and trash disposal.

IMPORTANT:

  • Unless you are already working with a Library staff member, please direct all questions to library@berry.edu. We'll take care of knowing who the best contact is for ongoing services for you, especially as all areas have back-up staff to ensure continuity of service.
  • Continue to direct your students to our Remote Library Services Guide (https://libguides.berry.edu/remoteservices/research). This will be the most current information for students regarding accessing Library resources and services.

Electronic Resources

  • Access to electronic resources will continue as they are, via the Library's Journal Locator and Research Databases pages (links are below).
  • Multiple members of the Memorial Library staff have full off-campus access to administrative portals for electronic resources and will be able to continue to update and troubleshoot student, faculty and staff use of electronic resources as necessary after hours.
  • Some publishers are extending access to e-resources and we may be able to purchase or add trials for additional e-resources. If there's something your students need, ask us and we'll see what the options are!

Print & Other Physical Materials

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, Memorial Library's print materials and other physical collections (DVDs, scores, microfilm) will be accessible to faculty, staff and students who are able to visit the library.

  • You can retrieve materials from the stacks yourself. We encourage you to use our self check-out system, meeScan. Here’s more information: https://berry.libanswers.com/faq/235623.
  • We will retrieve items from the collection for you and place them on hold at the service desk. Use the Place Hold button on the full catalog record for an item. We’ll let you know when you can pick up your materials (usually the next business day).

Alternatives, if you can't, or prefer not to visit the library:

Interlibrary Loan

  • If you are able to visit the library, you can begin requesting interlibrary loan of print materials on May 18 (but keep in mind that many libraries are closed and their print collections inaccessible).
  • If you cannot visit the library, continue to submit interlibrary loan requests as usual, as long as you will accept the item in electronic format. We will consult with you as needed.
