Graduate Education Courses

This guide contains several resources of interest for students in the Graduate Education program.

About our ProQuest Ebook Central collection

  • Memorial Library has access to many ProQuest Ebook Central books via our GALILEO membership or through previous purchase; other books are available through an arrangement known as Demand Driven Acquisitions (DDA) and may require that you request access from the library before you can view the book for more than 5 minutes.
  • Berry students, faculty, and staff members may read ebooks online and download books on campus (you must set up an Ebook Central account for downloading) as well as off campus.
  • Community users may access Ebook Central online only while on campus, but books downloaded for offline reading while on campus will remain available off campus.
  • Search for ebooks via the search box on the Library's web page, or go directly to Ebook Central, linked above.

Read online or download?

Read Online

  • If you want to rely on having an Internet connection, once you are signed in to your Ebook Central account, the Online Reader offers most functionality, including print/copy functionality, full text search, and the ability to highlight, bookmark and make notes.
  • The Online Reader is web browser based, and is compatible with all popular web browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera). No additional software is required to read online.
  • If you are working on a computer that is shared by others, you should always choose Read Online.
  • Access the online reader via the purple Read Online button on the full record page, or via the Read this book link beside each ebook listed when you search directly in the Ebook Central database.

Download

  • For offline reading or for the added functionality afforded by special ebook readers, Ebook Central ebooks can be downloaded using buttons on the full record page or on the Download tab in the Online Reader.

About ProQuest Central DDA

Memorial Library provides access to many ProQuest Ebook Central ebooks through what is called "demand driven acquisitions" - these ebooks appear in our catalog as Held by Berry College Memorial Library, but we pay nothing until certain use thresholds are met.

Eventually, if an ebook is used often, a copy of the book is automatically purchased & is ours in perpetuity. DDA books may also be mediated - you can read the book online for 5 minutes, but then must request that the library buy or rent the book for you.

We try to respond to mediated ebook requests within 1 business day.
