Memorial Library Staff Information

Statement of Purpose

Memorial Library actively sponsors diverse programs -- including presentations, workshops, readings, exhibits, and displays -- whose primary purpose is to spark intellectual curiosity, foster constructive dialogue, encourage a keener awareness of key issues in the public and academic discourse, and, by association, to extend the cultural and educational impact of the library on campus.

African American Read-In

Memorial Library, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, and the Department of English, Rhetoric and Writing began sponsoring the National Council of Teachers of English African American Read In at Berry in February 2010. Seventeen students, faculty and staff members participated in the first event, which eventually outgrew space in the library and was most recently held in the Intercultural Center. In 2020, there were over 100 participants. 

The coordinating group for the annual event determine how costs will be allocated. Morgan Stansell is the main library contact for the program.

Constitution Day

Memorial Library partners with the Department of Political Science on Constitution Day programming. Jessica Hornbuckle is the main library contact.
