Elsevier Prepaid Transactions, 2017

Collection Management Librarian Sarah Copeland proposed exploring Elsevier's Prepaid Transactions Service (PPT) as a way to control budget commitments to subscriptions while providing access to desired Elsevier content. At the May 3 meeting, the Collections Team recommended spending $2800 to beta test PPT. On May 17, Collections Team identified 12 Elsevier direct subscriptions to cancel for the 2018 subscription year (January-December 2018), with the expectation that use of these 12 titles could be shifted to the PPT service. See the attached proposal. The allocated funds were expended so quickly that the test was permanently suspended.

Get It Now, 2015

In 2015, after consultation with the Campbell School of Business faculty, Memorial Library set up unmediated access through the Copyright Clearance Center's Get It Now service for two titles for which direct subscriptions were cancelled, Review of Economics and Statistics and Strategy and Leadership. While the agreement technically remains active, access to the two titles is rarely used.
