African American Women Writers

Mary Monroe (1951-), American novelist, is known for works that feature African-American characters facing and overcoming challenges, often with a Christian emphasis. Monroe is a prolific writer who has produced more than 20 novels over the course of her career. Many of her books have been New York Times best sellers. She has won major awards, including the PEN Oakland Award and the Maya Angelou Lifetime Achievement Award.
